01 — Project

Overview & brief

RC Autobody is an independent vehicle bodyshop run by Roy Cardno from Little Broomfield Farm, Ellon, covering Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen. The work is full and panel resprays, accident and dent repair, and paint restoration. The business had no web presence and quoting was done informally by phone and message.

Objectives

  • Win more local quote enquiries from Aberdeenshire searches for resprays and body repair.
  • Replace back-and-forth phone quoting with a structured online damage-quote submission, including photos.
  • Give Roy one private place to manage every job from enquiry through to invoice.

Audience

Private car owners in and around Ellon, Inverurie, Oldmeldrum and Aberdeen dealing with accident damage, kerbed panels, scratches and tired paintwork — plus small trade and fleet customers who need turnaround they can rely on.

Scope

  • Brand application from the supplied logo
  • Public website & local SEO
  • Interactive damage quote flow
  • Secure photo uploads & storage
  • Staff login & job dashboard
  • Quotes, invoices, scheduling & work log

02 — Direction

Workshop-honest, not showroom-glossy — black, white and one hot pink that only ever means action.

  • The logo sets the rules: near-black ground, sharp white type, vivid hot pink as the single accent. The site follows them rather than inventing a second look.
  • Local trade buyers trust evidence over marketing language, so real work, clear services and contact detail lead the page — decoration was deliberately stripped back.
  • Pink is reserved for calls to action and live job status only, which keeps contrast high and makes the quote button the obvious next move on every screen.
  • Everything is mobile-first: most damage enquiries are made standing beside the car, on a phone, in daylight.

Keywords

  • Precise
  • Local
  • Practical
  • High-contrast
  • Trade-credible

Voice

Plain
Say what the job is and what it costs — no filler adjectives.
Confident
Finish quality is stated as fact, and shown with photographs.
Never salesy
No urgency gimmicks, no stock-photo promises.

Imagery & Art Direction

Real vehicles, real workshop light, tight on the panel and the reflection. Before-and-after pairs do most of the persuading, so the gallery is built to take Roy's own photographs straight from a phone.

Damage Quote Journey

The centrepiece. Customers pick a vehicle view — driver's side, passenger's side, front, rear or roof — mark the damaged panel, then attach photos to that exact panel. Multiple areas are supported, every upload stays tied to its view and panel, and a text-only alternative keeps it accessible without a pointer.

  • Five vehicle views
  • Per-panel photo upload
  • Accessible text alternative
  • Validated image uploads
  • Secure private storage

Staff Job Dashboard

A private, password-protected area on the live site — no design software or developer tools involved. Roy sees every enquiry with customer details, vehicle, marked damage and photos grouped by panel, then moves the job through New, Quoted, In progress and Completed.

  • Secure staff login
  • Searchable request history
  • Quotes → invoices with line items
  • Job scheduling & bays
  • Paint codes, notes & time logged
  • Printable quote / invoice documents

Next steps

Three things needed to finish and go live.

  1. 01

    Confirm business details

Phone, mobile, email and opening hours are currently placeholders and are flagged on the site. Send the real details and they will be swapped in everywhere at once.

  2. 02

    Send real project photos

The gallery is built to take before-and-after pairs straight from a phone. Ten to fifteen good jobs is plenty to start.

  3. 03

    Take the dashboard login

A staff account is issued for the live site only — sign in at the bottom of any page. It gives access to enquiries, quotes, invoices and scheduling, and nothing else.

Have a look through the site, then come back with the confirmed contact details, your photos and any changes you want. Once those are in, we set it live.
